You ever feel like you’re just going through the motions, handling everything, showing up for everybody, but something still feels off?
On the outside, you’re doing what you’re supposed to do. Working, providing, staying solid. But on the inside, your mind does not really slow down. Stress builds. Pressure stacks. And you do not always have a place to put it.
A lot of men, especially Black men, were raised to push through it. Do not complain. Do not show too much. Handle it.
So you keep going, even when you are tired, even when it feels heavy.
The truth is that weight does not just go away. It shows up in other ways. You might find yourself more irritable, shutting down, overthinking, not sleeping well, or leaning on things just to take the edge off.
Most of the time, you do not even call it anxiety or depression. You just know something is not right.
For a lot of men, the pressure looks like feeling responsible for everything financially, carrying your family but having no space for yourself, dealing with relationship stress but not knowing how to talk about it, trying to be a good father while figuring it out as you go, and holding a lot in because you do not want to look weak.
So you deal with it on your own.
But you do not have to.
Therapy is not about making you soft. It is about giving you a space where you do not have to carry everything by yourself. A space where you can sort through what has been building up and start to feel like yourself again.
